Family Vacation Bible School
What is Vacation Bible School?
Vacation Bible School, or VBS, is a fun-filled program many churches offer, usually during the summer months, to connect with the children in their communities. Vacation Bible School is an outreach meant to bring in children who don’t normally attend church and to teach them the gospel. As an evangelistic tool, VBS helps churches fulfill the Great Commission found in Matthew 28, but what if we reach out to more than just the children.
What If VBS was for the entire family?
Here at Tuscumbia...IT IS! Do VBS differently this year and train the parents too. We believe that parents are the primary spiritual trainers of their children. Our Family Vacation Bible School or FVBS for short is a fun filled, four nights of learning about God's great love for each and every one of us. Parents and children start and end the evening interacting together and then separate during the teaching time.
It is a time for lessons, arts and crafts, games, singing, skits, puppet shows, refreshments and our very own marketplace.
We start off our FVBS each year with a Sunday Night Kickoff, our regular worship service with a bit of a twist. When our members and guests walk through the doors of the church they will be walking into another world, a place that reflects that of our theme. The front of the auditorium will also have its unique features as well. We have our normal services but dedicate some of it to singing special songs for our children and our preacher, Jeff Abrams, develops a lesson that incorporates our year's theme.
When is Family VBS?
We generally have FVBS the first full week of June.
It is something that children, as well as, adults look forward to each summer.
