Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes Ministry

Since our foundation in 1968, the mission of Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes has been to develop youth into Christian leaders. From a group of eight boys in that first year to more than 20,000 today, our mission has remained the same.

Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes is the oldest and largest leadership training program used by the churches of Christ today. It is a tool churches of Christ can use to help prepare their youth and adults for service in the Kingdom of God and help develop their overall leadership potential. Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes is more than just attending a youth rally or participating in a Bible Bowl. We offer a variety of Bible-based class materials and events for preschoolers through adults.

The goal of Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes is to provide churches of Christ with effective, year-round leadership training tools that can be adapted to individual congregational needs.

The purpose of Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes is to help local congregations instill the Word of God into youth and adults so that they will stand firm in the faith.  Teaching students to do “Bible things in Bible ways” is the essence of Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes.

Through the Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes program, churches can select from 37 events, 26 of which are non-competitive, that cover a wide range of interests.  The culmination of the 11 competitive events is a national convention, held on Easter weekend every year, where thousands of youth and adults from hundreds of participating Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes congregations gather to display the skills they’ve worked on all year. (The convention is held over Easter weekend in order to utilize the Friday holiday most students enjoy)

At the Nashville convention, students and adults are recognized for the work they’ve completed over the past year, and students in grades 3-12 are given the opportunity to compete with other students of similar age and ability in such areas as speech, song leading, debate, puppets, Bible Bowl and art. In addition to promoting leadership competency through healthy competition, the conventions provide great opportunities for Christian fellowship. Learn more HERE.

Do This In Remembrance of Me

We Are Losing HALF?!

One Christian University survey found that only half of the youth in churches of Christ remain faithful after high school graduation! Good news: many congregations with Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes have a 92-100% youth retention rate!

A Year-Round Concept

The training tools that are part of the Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes program may be adapted to your congregation’s unique needs. No two congregations participate in exactly the same way. Using both the pre-convention events that are carried out year-round at the local, congregational level, as well as preparing youth for competitive events at convention, will result in well-rounded, confident, spiritually grounded individuals that will have the right foundation to be workers for the Lord from youth through adulthood.
