At the Tuscumbia Church of Christ, we love children. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me." With so many things competing for their attention these days, it's not always easy to keep our children's eyes on Christ. Downtown Bible provides families with a wealth of interactive stations to get children engaged and excited about God's Word and helps them grow in their faith.

Downtown Bible is our Four Year Old through 5th Grade education program based on a rotation model. During a three week lesson students rotate by grade through six different class rooms to learn through traditional and non- traditional teaching methods. Downtown Bible consists of: The Bible Science & History Museum, Food for Thought, G.A.ME Changers, Creation Station, True Focus Studios and Living Word Productions. Each classroom has a teacher assigned and each grade has a keeper that rotates with the grade to each room for consistency.  The rotation model presents the lesson differently in each room, keeping the children interested and learning not only by hearing the lesson but seeing it presented differently and using hands on techiques.

When you step into Food for Thought, it's like being in an actual cafe. This room utilizes an interactive hands-on approach such as making unleavened bread when discussing communion or making an interactive cookie map detailing Abraham's journey. How about Creation Snack Mix that discusses the days of creation through that of a variety of cookies and candy. For instance, an Oreo cookie might be used to show the difference between light and dark.
Creation Station is another hands-on station in which children create a craft in conjunction with the correlating Bible story. Some examples include making a basket that represents what baby Moses floated downstream in or even dying our own coat of many colors by boiling several different kinds of foods (beets, cabbage, coffee beans) in order to get a variety of colors and dipping our fabric in each one.
The Bible Science & History Museum is full of historical artifacts including a detailed replica of the Arc of the Covenant. This museum is another interactive tool in which the children touch, see and feel the artifacts discussed from each Bible story.
Living Word Productions, our drama room, allows the truth and power of God's Word to come alive. It incorporates interactive puppet shows and skits. The children may perform a skit by dressing up in Bible-time clothing or assist in performing a puppet show in relation to the Bible story.
In G.A.ME Changers you will find games to help you learn about people, places and events in the Bible. G.A.ME stand for "God Ables ME." It is designed areound many common game shows including Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and even Memory. This room is responsible for Bible facts correlated to the Bible story in an effort to test your Bible knowledge from the Word of God.
A Biblical relevant movie will be shown to the children at our True Focus Studios. A full size projected video, beanbags, and complete surround sound adds to the feel of being in a cinema. Movies shown are of sound doctringe and allow the children the opportunity to visualize the Bible story. The children will also spend time on the iPad with various Bible apps such as quizzes, games and other interactive tools.
