"From the song of Deborah: "...May those who love the Lord rise like the sun at full strength.” - Judges 5: 31
Women at the Tuscumbia church of Christ are busy, always, working quietly in the background, accomplishing great things. Works involving women include:
Anything done for another person, in love and from the heart is hospitality. “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Romans 12:13 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers for thereby; some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2
A Sunday class for women and several classes for children and Special Events for women such as: Women’s Retreat and Women’s Seminar on Emotional Wellness. Also, those who teach in the community, influence others to our Forever Family. “I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” Philemon 1:6
Women help in the church pantry, receiving and dispensing food for the hungry in the community. “Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, ‘Go, I wish you well; Keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?” James 2:15,16
Women who write encouraging notes to visitors, to the sick and those who are lonely, and notes of encouragement to compliment. “If a person’s gift from God is encouraging, let her /him encourage.” Romans 12:8
Many women work tirelessly, creating amazingly beautiful objects to decorate for gifts, to beautify the building, and to help the student learn. “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
These are the women who are always serving others. They are the first to volunteer for kitchen duty for a potluck or for a funeral meal. They come early and stay late. Women in this group also serve in welcoming visitors and newcomers. These women also keep baptismal garments laundered, help fix communion and bake and bag cookies to send to those who visit our congregation or to those who may be lonely and need a smile and a hug.
Also, in this group of women servants, we need to include those who minister in a professional capacity; photography and decorating. We are blessed in our Forever Family to have such women who, when asked, can do wondrous things. God tells us, “Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” Malachi 3:10.
